I wanted to thank you for making the special dish for us last Friday evening. We enjoyed our dinner and had a very pleasant anniversary celebration. My wife particularly enjoyed her dessert!! I am glad we finally made it to the Alphorn!

Hi Bob and Daphne (sorry, we never did meet Alexandra),
My husband and I had the unexpected pleasure of staying at the Inn of Danbury this past SAT night, and I cannot thank you enough for taking us it and sharing your home with us – in spite of our late and unannounced arrival, right at dinnertime. We rode in on Gene’s motorcycle, just as the sun was setting and the temp was dropping. Daphne greeted us, showed us a choice of rooms and checked us into the inn. She also ended up being our server in the bistro.
We had both been out riding the entire day and were pretty tired by the time we finally ran into a sign to the inn. It was a huge break to have such wonderful fare served right on the premises. Gene is a pretty good cook himself, and has sometimes talked about wanting to start a B&B, but I think he may have been cured of his delusions by seeing how hard it is to be an innkeeper. Bob, we cannot praise you enough for the fantastic dinner you prepared and the wonderful breakfast you served up the next morning. And Daphne did an awesome job as well, especially given the fact that she was serving in such new roles.
We’ll definitely recommend your inn to folks, and also look forward to visiting again in the future.
Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality,
Debby Kantor (& Gene Boullie)

We stopped just by chance at this Inn and found out that this was the best we could do. This is a family run Inn with good accommodation and a superb German cuisine. Coming from Germany we were initially a bit skeptical about German food being served in the middle of New Hampshire, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. All dishes were freshly cooked – which of course necessitates a little patience until they can be served (not long) – were prepared with love and had an excellent taste. A compliment to the chef who is actually the landlord himself. Our room was cozy and clean. Overall an outstanding value for the money we paid. Would come again anytime
Thank you Alex & Bob for a great 2 day stay at your inn. We loved your special German entree. It was so yummy! Thanks for your hospitality & we are glad we met you. God willing we will see you again!

Dear Alex,
Bob’s food is delicious, we loved it all, the girls did a great job serving. The Luncheon yesterday was very delicious. A pleasant time was had by all.
As Always,

Robert and Alexandra,
The Heller family thanks you for making our dinner on December 28, 2008 so perfect. The food was outstanding, the service terrific and the atmosphere comfortable. I have attached a copy of the picture Alexandra took for us.
Thank you.
Maurice Heller
We did have dinner at the Inn and it was wonderful. Absolutely everything was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for recommending it so highly. My youngest son is intolerant of corn syrup and chemicals in processed foods so we rarely find eating out to be easy but he could have the food at the inn and even dessert! He was so thrilled. He usually cannot have dessert anywhere so I bake for him a lot but being able to have a delicious brownie when we are out to eat was remarkable. We give the Bistro an A+++. Between Ruggles Mine and dinner, we had an absolutely wonderful last day of vacation. Thanks again.

I want to thank you again for a memorable and enjoyable stay at your inn, It was an unexpected treat to meet and socialize with real “down to earth folks”. I sure am glad that all of our timing was good! To be honest, I think my time (as short as it was) spent with you was the highlight of my trip. The world could use more nice people like you guys!

Kind words from one of our guests from MA who held her husband’s surprise birthday party at our Restaurant in July 2008: Thanks! It was great!
Everyone was impressed and had a super night.
Dear Bob and Alexandra,
A few weeks ago we ordered Sacher Torte from you and we had dinner at the Inn at Danbury when we went to pick it up.
We’ve been meaning to send this to New England Cooks since – but have had a pretty hectic schedule!
I hope all is well over there.
We look forward to visiting soon, especially when we have visitors. We also look forward to ordering more Sacher Torte as soon as our student budgets permit!
Ed and Marie
Alex and Rob,
We enjoyed our stay at the Inn.
Thank you for the great food and hospitality.
After leaving the Inn on Saturday, we went to the Ruggles Mine.
We received a $3.00 discount per ticket by showing a receipt from the Bistro.
We enjoyed hunting for the gems and minerals.
I don’t think we found any precious gems, but we had fun just the same.
Here is the list of items needed to explore the mine:
1) A sturdy pail or bucket with handle or heavy duty cloth bag with straps
2) A small pick ax
3) Eye protection (glasses or sunglasses)
Thanks again for the enjoyable stay.
We look forward to staying with you again some time, Paul and Pati Randolph, VT
Hi Alex

Hi Alexandra,
I’m glad you found my email. There is so much yukky stuff in the world, that I try to make it a point to say nice things to encourage people, especially when they are working so hard to be nice to others as you, your husband, Jen, and the rest of your staff are doing. So, what’s to forgive?…I know you’re busy.
Wow! You folks were really hopping, when I was up there the evening of October 3rd. Jen took very good care of Mom and me, again. I had the Oktoberfest beer with dinner. It was great! But not quite as great as Jen’s smile. Please tell her I said so. She makes me feel so at home and welcome. I feel blessed to have seen a glimpse of why you love her so much!
Thanks again for your gracious hospitality! God bless you!!!
I hope to see you this month, but I have to remember your restricted days to time my visit right.
With warmth and good cheer, Craig
Bob and Alex,
Just a quick email and follow up to let you know that we had a great time during our recent stay at your property.
The Inn was terrific, but your hospitality and warmth were what really made it special. And, of course, the food! Bob, not sure where you started, but where you ended is pretty good. The food was fantastic.
Re: the pictures….still in the process of trying to finish and clean them up a bit. I’ll most likely send you a cd as I think the images will be too large to send acrosss the network …my company has a limit on what size emails can be….
so I will get them out to you.
Thanks again, please let us know if you’re headed to the Boston area, thanks Gary & Kathy
Hi Bob & Alex,
We just wanted to say thanks again for making our Anniversary so special! We really enjoyed ourselves and didn’t want to leave! It was very relaxing, just what we needed. I especially enjoyed no TV or phone for a couple of days and we both enjoyed the “no worries” for a couple of days!!!
We are looking forward to coming back to the Inn in 3 weeks. Mom’s anxious to visit as we had nothing but good things to tell her.
Thanks again for making us feel so welcome!

I am writing to you to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at your Inn during the Loconia Bike week, June 12, 13, 14, 15, 2007. I have recommended to several people thinking of going to the New Hampshire are for the summer or winter to stay at your inn. It was a pleasure to deal with your family who made us feel relaxed and at home during our stay.
You have raised a wonderful family. Your children are such an asset to the inn and I am sure you are proud of all of them.
Thank you again for a wonderful stay and hope to return soon.

“We had a wonderful stay. We look forward to returning.
I am wondering if you would be kind enough to share that wonderful Cinnamon,
Chocolate chip (nut-free) coffee cake. Our grandson, Connor has asked her to make it for him.”
Thank you in advance.

“It was wonderful, I was born and raised in Germany, and have not been back in awhile so it was great. we will definitely be back. The beer my husband had was great, he just loves german beer”
Hi Bob, Hi Alex,
Just wanted to say thanks again for your hospitality and the lift back to Ragged Mountain. We plan to go skiing again in a few weeks and we will try to make reservations this time, if we make it and the car doesn’t break down.
The real reason for this e-mail however, is this: I meant to tell you, Bob, what Koty said about breakfast. He said, “This is the best breakfast I’ve ever had!”. He said it a number of times… So I’ll join in and say, “I’ll be back to try some more cuisine, beyond breakfast.”
Thanks and Take care,
Dave
Merry Christmas and thanks for your hospitality. It was short but fun!
Rebecca from MA & NYC
